GREEN MARK INCENTIVE SCHEME (GMIS) – GRACE PERIOD FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

Circular No.: ESC/140/09/tl
Subject: Green Mark Incentive Scheme (GMIS) - Grace Period for Submission of Application
Date: 30 November 2009
Officer-in-Charge: Lim Tian Lee

Referring to the Green Mark Incentive Scheme (GMIS), the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) would like to inform all on the grace period for submission of application for projects aiming for GM Goldplus or higher. The details are as follow:

Background

BCA rolled out the $20 million GMIS to encourage developers to strive for higher Green Mark (GM) ratings for their developments. After about one year of implementation, the scheme was enhanced in May 2008 to also incentivize architects and M&E consultants. The GMIS will be expiring in 14 Dec 2009.

In line with BCA’s 2nd Green Building Masterplan, a decision has been taken to provide a grace period of about 6 months only for projects aiming for GM Goldplus or higher. With nearly 3 years of implementation of GMIS, industry has become very conversant in developing and designing projects at Green Mark Gold level. Therefore, there is no need for further incentive for Green Mark Gold projects and no grace period will be given for Green Mark Gold projects.

Grace Period

Application must be submitted to BCA before 30 June 2010.

For more information, you may like to contact Mr Patrick Poh from BCA at 6730 4456 or email to Patrick_poh@bca.gov.sg .

Thank you.
