Corporate Social Responsibility programmes


SCAL has always played an active role in charitable projects since its inception in 1937.

Objectives of SCAL CSR Programme:

  • Embrace and encourage initiatives that are geared towards making a positive impact on the local communities

  • Provide support to the Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) and the less privileged through contributions in-kind donations, volunteerism and community relations

  • Create opportunities and encourage SCAL members and employees to participate in various Corporate Social Responsibility projects

Some of SCAL’s recent initiatives:

  • In May 2015, SCAL partnered with the Central Singapore Development Council (CDC) and Tanglin Cairnhill Division RC to organise a Clean-A-Home Programme for the elderly. A total of 120 volunteers helped to clean up 25 units in Block 107 Bukit Merah View. Guest-of-Honour, Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Law and Finance visited the residents.

  • In November 2015, SCAL organised its Annual Charity Golf Tournament in aid of the new NKF Dialysis Centre at Yishun Street 81. The session saw the participation of 108 players with Dr Lee Bee Wah, Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC gracing the event as guest-of-honour.

  • SCAL also collaborated with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in November 2015 to revamp the facilities and infrastructure at the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH). A total of 5 member firms and 30 workers participated in the revamping works. SCAL had the opportunity to have Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister of the National Development joining the CSR event as guest-of-honour.

  • In February 2016, SCAL collaborated with the Radin Mas Constituency to organise a Lunar New Year Lunch for the elderly. About 190 elderly beneficiaries attended the event with Minister of State for Manpower, Mr Sam Tan as guest-of-honour.

  • In April 2016, SCAL partnered with the Singapore Red Cross Society to organise a Blood Donation Drive at the SCAL multi-purpose hall at Construction House. Over 136 donors comprising staff of SCAL members and SCAL secretariat signed up for the event.
