The National Environmental Agency (NEA) is introducing a new Quieter Construction Innovation Fund (QCIF) that will replace the current Quieter Construction Fund (QCF) which will expire on 31 Mar 2019.
The existing QCF was launched in April 2014 to help construction firms defray the costs of adopting quieter construction machines, noise control equipment and other innovative solutions. In comparison to the existing QCF, the QCIF will provide higher incentives to contractors and focus more on pilling and demolition activities. Applications for the QCIF will open on 1 Apr 2019 and the disbursement of the fund
s will end on 31 Mar 2021.
NEA is inviting SCAL members to attend the Quieter Construction Seminar to be held on 11 March 2019.
The aim of the seminar is to introduce the new QCIF funding scheme, as well as to share knowledge on mitigating construction noise through adoption of quieter construction equipment and innovative solutions. The seminar will feature a sharing session by successful QCF applicants. Various government agencies will also be speaking on the benefits of adopting quieter equipment and methods at their worksites.
NEA encourages contractors specialising in demolition and piling works to attend this seminar. Decision-makers of the company or personnel involved in the procurement of equipment are also encouraged to attend.
