Invitation to participate in Focus Group Discussion on manpower programmes for the Construction Sector

The Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL) and Workforce Singapore (WSG) are embarking on initiatives to spur local employment in the construction sector.

In light of the current COVID situation, WSG is seeing a steady flow of jobseekers applying to jobs in construction firms in the platform However, there has been feedback from employers that many of the applicants are not suitable for the job roles that they have applied for due to lack of skills required for the job.

To find out more about the requirements of potential job roles and skills upgrading required especially for mid-career PMETs for the construction sector, we are pleased to invite members to participate in a Focus Group Discussion to conduct a demand-sensing exercise among contractor companies. Through the Focus Group Discussion, we would like to seek inputs on how we can:

  • Support the attraction of local talent into the construction sector, especially mid-career switchers who are interested to join the sector
  • Work together with WSG and construction companies to bridge the applicants’ skills gap for the jobs through professional conversion programmes

WSG will also share on the profile and trends of jobseekers applying to construction jobs during this session.

Details of the session are as follows:

Date: 12 November 2020

Time: 10.30 am

Duration: 1 hour

(via Zoom online conference)
