SCAL Advisory on essential business activity
On 14 April 2020 the Ministry of Trade & Industry (MTI) rescinded all approvals that were previously granted for essential works/projects. The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) subsequently issued an advisory to affected companies to clarify that essential works such as for safety, ECM and vector control could still continue provided they submit details of the works and corresponding manpower via the link https://go.gov.sg/bca-essential-services-projects/.
We would like to advise members that they could still apply for a time-limited exemption for business activities such as staff payroll and processing of payments that absolutely cannot be performed via telecommuting. The application can be made via the link https://covid.gobusiness.gov.sg.
SCAL has also been alerted that companies may experience a delay of 2-3 days for receipt of MTI’s email notification of approval for the exemptions. In the meantime companies may log in with their CorpPass to check the status of the application via the link https://www.gobusiness.gov.sg/exemptions/login Both the website and email notifications can be presented as proof of the approval.
Members are urged to ensure compliance to the health advisories and safe distancing measures at all times when conducting these essential works.
