Ladies and gentlemen

Good evening

Introduction

I am delighted to see all of you here today at the SCAL Annual Charity Golf Tournament. Thank you for taking time off your busy schedules to join us for this worthy cause in support of the Handicaps Welfare Association.

On behalf of SCAL and the organising committee, I would like to also thank Assoc Prof Yaacob Ibrahim for his presence here today.  It is a great pleasure to have you at our event.

SCAL Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The SCAL Annual Charity Golf Tournament has been a success since its inception. Over the years, we have contributed to various beneficiaries such as the Pathlight School and Canossian School for the Hearing Impaired, Kidney Dialysis Foundation, National Kidney Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Foundation. This year, we are pleased to adopt the Handicaps Welfare Association as our beneficiary.

SCAL Initiatives for the community

As Singapore strives to be a caring and inclusive society, SCAL on our part organises various corporate social responsibility, or CSR events yearly which include:

·       the Lunar New Year Celebrations with the elderly in collaboration with the Radin Mas constituency

·       the Blood Donation drive in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross

·       Improving facilities and infrastructure at the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) in collaboration with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

·       the Clean-A-Home Programme in aid of the elderly and disabled

Our new initiative this year was a Foreign Workers’ Carnival organised in conjunction with Labour Day to show appreciation to foreign workers for their contributions to the construction sector. Over 2,000 foreign workers attended the carnival for food, games and entertainment acts.

Through our CSR events, we have made a difference in many lives of the underprivileged from all walks of life. I am heartened and humbled by the support from our members and I hope we will continue this spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy.

Appreciation to Donors

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our sponsors for today’s event:

·        Our Platinum Sponsor:

·        Mitsubishi Electric Asia Pte Ltd

·        Our Hole-In-One Sponsor:

·        Komoco Motors Pte Ltd

·        Our Gold Sponsors:

·        Straits Construction Singapore Pte Ltd

Please join me to give them a big round of applause.

Conclusion

At this point, I would like to also express my heartfelt appreciation to our CSR Subcommittee chairman, chairman of the organising committee for today’s tournament, Mr Benjamin Tan and SCAL secretariat who have rallied support for the event.

On behalf of Handicaps Welfare Association, let me thank all sponsors and donors once again your generous contribution and support. I wish you all an enjoyable dinner. Bon Appétit!
