Circular No: M&P/084/04/WH

7 April 2020

Singapore Contractors Association (SCAL)’s response to the Solidarity Budge                                                                               The Solidarity Budget was presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat on 6 April 2020.

Among the support measures to businesses are the enhanced Jobs Support Scheme of 75 per cent gross monthly wage subsidy per employee for the first S$4,600 of wages paid in April, waiver of the Foreign Worker Levy (FWL) due in April 2020 and FWL rebate of $750 in April 2020 per Work Permit or S Pass holder.

These measures will help to ease the cash flow of firms to cover worker wages while construction work come to a stop.

SCAL urges construction firms to use the FWL rebate to pay for their workers’ basic salary when they are not working during the one-month Circuit Breaker period.

Construction firms should also engage workers and ensure that their welfare, health and well-being are taken care of.

Attached is SCAL’s response to the Solidarity Budget for your attention.
