REMINDER TO MAINTAIN GOOD SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARDS AT CONSTRUCTION WORKSITES

The Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL) is deeply concerned with the increasing trend of accidents happening in the construction sector. With the current shortage of manpower and the pressure on project progress, the slightest mistake leading to an accident would exponentially delay any progress. SCAL would like to urge all members to be vigilant in maintaining workplace safety and health at your worksites at all times.

SCAL had earlier called upon members to conduct a Traffic Management Safety Time-out refer to link here, and would strongly urge members to step-up the following at your worksites:

  1. Extend STO to cover any critical or high-risk activities
  2. Step up supervision for critical or high-risk activities
  3. Review risk assessments and safe work procedures (SWPs)
  4. Send regular reminders to workers to ensure all SWPs are adhered to at all times
  5. Place additional emphasis on permit-to-work and work coordination
  6. Increase maintenance regime for heavy machines

We seek your commitment and active efforts to prevent accident at construction worksites.
