About the Session

Singapore has signed the Paris Agreement Climate Treaty, committing to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The life cycle of a building spans several stages: material extraction, construction, operation, demolition, and recycling. Each stage involves intensive use of natural resources, energy, and water.

BCA, SCAL, and SGBC have been actively promoting sustainability, with much of the focus on the building itself and the materials used during construction and operation.

This presentation will cover sustainability and responsible business practices in the construction stage from a builder’s perspective. It will explain relevant frameworks and policies, and demonstrate how companies, such as Takenaka, capture and monitor greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3.

The presentation aims to provide practical insights into actions that can reduce carbon emissions in the construction industry.
