In the evolving landscape of the digital age, the construction sector in Asia faces several challenges and opportunities. The challenges include bad data costing the construction business globally 1.8 trillion USD and skills shortages and persistent cost pressures.

While the opportunities include the coming wave of automation and the Asia market being a prime centre of growth construction and infrastructure projects. How can we harness this potential for growth and innovation? Can we mitigate and learn from the challenges? How do we utilise the digital advancements in Building Information Modelling (BIM), advanced connectivity, artificial Intelligence/machine learning, and cloud computing?

We’ll explore the current state of digital technologies that are changing the sector, look at opportunities to improve ways of working, and discuss future proof strategies to leverage technology.

Inspired by BCA’s roadmap for BIM, Renee moved to Singapore 8 years ago to work with architectural firms to improve their BIM capabilities. Always learning, Renee has shared BIM knowledge with teams on SIT New Campus in Punggol, Singapore Expo Pavillion at Dubai, NS Square, Paya Lebar Green and most recently, implementing integrated digital delivery (IDD) on Singtel Comcentre Redevelopment.

In recent years at Lendlease, Renee focuses on driving digital initiatives on every project and capturing the value of BIM and digital tools from a real estate development perspective. She leads a team of Singapore digital engineers who spearhead digital delivery on development and construction projects. The team implements best-in-class technologies and workflows to improve quality, safety, and productivity outcomes on all Lendlease projects.

As part of her commitment to champion and empower women in construction, she is a member of Women in BIM and the Singapore chair for Women in Lendlease, an internal network championing gender equity.
