The annual SCAL safety campaign 2022 themed “Workplace Safety and Health depends on us” will return as an in-person event with a 2 half-day format. Join us to stay ahead of proper risk assessment processes, learn the importance of careful planning and execution, provision of required training, and find out how to communicate hazards and risks to our workers.

We have made great progress in workplace safety and health (WSH) in the construction sector but the recent spate of accidents is a grim reminder that we must never let up in our efforts. The construction sector remains one of the main contributors to workplace fatalities and injuries. This presentation will highlight some of the common workplace safety and health issues in the sector and how we can collectively work towards addressing some of these issues.

  11.20 AM        Dengue Prevention and Control at Construction sites

Singapore is currently facing a severe dengue outbreak, and the weekly number of dengue cases reported, continues to rise sharply. The cumulative number of dengue cases this year have exceeded the total number of cases in 2021. Everyone plays a critical role in Singapore's dengue control strategy. NEA will be sharing more on the dengue situation and the preventive measures that contractors can take, to prevent dengue transmission.

The presentation will share recent trends in workplace injury and workforce health, including mental well-being.  It will shed light on the possible drivers of and links between accidents and ill-health, and describe what companies can do to reduce accidents and improve worker health.  Measures will focus on those that are free or inexpensive, and easy-to-implement.
