Presentation Synopsis:

 

Why do unsafe behaviours persist even after coaching, reminders, and enforcement? This session explores why unsafe behaviour is often a visible symptom of deeper system, cultural, and personal factors. Through the lens of behavioural science and human factors, Boon Chew challenges common assumptions in safety practice and why many traditional interventions fail to deliver lasting change. About the speaker:

Boon Chew is a consultant specializing in safety culture and behavioural change, with a passion for the human side of safety. He lectures on Psychology in Human Factors at SUSS and Safety Leadership at NUS. He also authored a book on safety mindset transformation, advocating approaches beyond the traditional “train-nag-enforce” approach. Before founding his own company, he served as Regional Safety Head at Johnson Controls.
