Smart Metering, Simpler Reporting: Easing the Sustainability Burden for Contractors

Presentation Synopsis:

Main contractors face growing requirements for environmental monitoring, yet on-site data tracking remains a heavy administrative burden. This presentation introduces a practical, ground-up approach to navigating these challenges through the deployment of wireless smart power and water meters. Designed specifically to integrate smoothly into active site workflows, these wireless tools enable construction teams to track resource consumption simply and cost-effectively. By shifting away from manual logs to automated data collection, firms can gather high-fidelity data with minimal disruption to daily operations. The session will highlight how this real-time consumption data is seamlessly translated into simple carbon reports for submission. By streamlining these workflows, sustainability transitions from an operational hurdle into a supportive, accessible partnership, allowing contractors to focus on their core building expertise while meeting environmental compliance goals with ease.

About the speaker:

      Mr Benjamin Huang Xinyang
     Head of Sustainability Solutions
     L-QuBE Pte Ltd

Benjamin has spent over 15 years in Singapore’s built environment, beginning his journey at the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC). Rather than viewing sustainability through a purely technical lens, he sees himself as a "Connector"—someone who enjoys bringing people and ideas together to solve practical challenges. At L-QuBE, he works alongside his engineering team to find grounded ways to integrate green technology into existing workflows, ensuring solutions provide clear, tangible value to the people on the ground.

While presenting new construction tools today, his commitment to practical solutions is reflected in his team’s previous work, recognized as a two-time Top 10 winner in the CapitaLand Sustainability X Challenge (2023 and 2025). These recognitions serve as a reminder that staying focused on industry needs is a reliable way to drive meaningful progress.
