Supporting Decarbonisation through Practical Construction Initiatives

Presentation Synopsis:

This presentation shares KOAS’ ongoing journey towards supporting decarbonisation within and beyond construction operations through practical sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. The session will provide an overview of how operational planning, resource efficiency, digitalisation, innovation, and sustainability awareness are progressively being integrated into daily construction activities to support lower-carbon and more sustainable project delivery.

The presentation will also highlight the importance of balancing sustainability objectives with operational practicality, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and environmental responsibility within the built environment sector.

Wee Hao is a Sustainability Officer at Kajima Overseas Asia (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (KOAS), supporting the company’s sustainability efforts within Singapore’s built environment sector.

A graduate in Microelectronics from Temasek Polytechnic, he entered the construction industry more than 10 years ago, drawn by the dynamic and challenging nature of the built environment sector. Over the years, he has taken on various roles ranging from administration and public relations to supporting the company’s sustainability, management systems and Green and Gracious Builder initiatives.

Project teams and colleagues work closely with him in promoting practical and responsible sustainability practices across project operations. He believes sustainability is a collective effort, where small and consistent actions from everyone can contribute towards a more sustainable future.

Through continuous learning and industry engagement, he hopes to support the industry’s journey towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible construction practices aligned with Singapore’s Green Plan 2030.
