Sustainability Initiatives Begin on Site

Presentation Synopsis:

Sustainability across all aspects of ESG in the construction industry is crucial, with workforce sustainability being a top priority. Penta-Ocean is working to influence our all our employees from the bottom-up, as well as our global network of partners, suppliers, and subcontractors on sustainability issues, including human rights, occupational health and safety (OHS), carbon neutrality (CN), materials management, recycling and compliance etc.

This presentation highlights POC’s guiding principles and some of the core activities deployed that raise awareness and best practice of Sustainability (ESG) matters within our network. POC is committed to demonstrating leadership and continuously improving standards in the construction industry.

     Mr David Sweeney

David Sweeney is an accomplished Executive General Manager, Deputy Head of the International Administration Division, and GM / Head of the International Sustainability Promotion Division.

David brings over 30 years of global leadership experience across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and Africa. His deep regional expertise includes 14 years living and working in Japan and 19 years based in Singapore. Throughout his career, David has driven organizational excellence for major multinational corporations, including General Electric, Kao Corp., Alcan Aluminium (Rio Tinto), Mitsui & Co., and, for the past 8.5 years, Penta-Ocean Construction.

David specializes in elevating corporate performance by optimizing international talent and strengthening interconnected value chains across people, systems, and clients. Passions for mentorship led him to serve as a guest lecturer at Waseda University and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) business schools and other tertiary institutions, sharing strategic insights with future leaders. As a dedicated ESG advocate, he currently leads comprehensive human rights audits across global operations. David firmly believes that people development underpins sustainable business, and he successfully embeds individual and corporate ESG best practices across Penta-Ocean's international footprint to deliver lasting stakeholder value and a responsible future legacy.

He holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Education, an MBA, and a Lean Six Sigma certification.

Currently, David spearheads Penta-Ocean’s strategic sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives across all international business jurisdictions outside of Japan.
