SCAL regularly conducts bi-lateral consultations with these agencies – including direct participation in policy-making – especially when it involves the implementation of any new regulation, policy or industry standard, and provides regular updates to Members on the progress and outcomes.

Services

The Singapore Construction Mediation Centre Pte Ltd (SCMC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SCAL which assists members to opt for mediation as the preferred dispute resolution process in the settlement of construction disputes. SCMC provides SCAL Members with an efficient and cost-effective channel for the amicable and early settlement of disputes, eliminating the need for lengthy and costly court proceedings.

SCAL regularly invites subject matter experts to conduct training sessions such as courses, seminars and workshops for transfer of knowledge and know-how to SCAL Members and their employees, whereby SCAL Members also enjoy discounted member rates. Some of these training sessions are jointly conducted with Institutes of Higher Learning, educational institutions and government agencies, and the curriculum is constantly updated to ensure that SCAL Members and their employees are kept abreast of the latest industry developments.

One avenue is the annual Contractor’s Directory which serves as a platform for Members to showcase their offerings. SC2 Pte Ltd (SC2) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SCAL and is the first Singapore company to offer the entire suite of safety consultancy services for the construction industry, including the administration of the Green and Gracious Builder Scheme.

SC2 has been accredited by the Ministry of Manpower to conduct safety audits at sites for projects having unlimited value. Together with offering professional advice to companies in the formulation and implementation of safety management systems that are tailored to their needs, SC2 also provides safety-related training. SCAL Members can enjoy discounted member rates for these safety consultancy services and training.
